Ivana Katz, the seventh person I’ve met on this journey, is someone whose story immediately makes you appreciate both resilience and perspective.
A website designer by profession, Ivana has a calm, thoughtful presence that makes conversation feel easy from the very beginning. But underneath that warmth is a family history shaped by enormous courage. Her family escaped from Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic) through the Iron Curtain, leaving behind oppression in pursuit of freedom and opportunity. Hearing her speak about that history gave real weight to the conversation. It wasn’t told dramatically or for effect. It was simply part of who she is and the perspective she carries with her.
There’s a sizable amount of gratitude and groundedness that seemed to come from that experience. Ivana spoke about life, work and opportunity with an appreciation that felt genuine and deeply earned. You could sense that her family’s journey had shaped the way she approaches both people and business.
We also spoke about her work in website design, and it quickly became obvious that she cares about more than just aesthetics. She thinks deeply about how people experience things online, how trust is built and how businesses communicate who they are. There’s a quiet intentionality to the way she works and speaks that leaves a lasting impression.
My main takeaway from our chat?
The people who value opportunity the most are often the ones who understand what it took to create it. Ivana reminded me that resilience doesn’t always arrive loudly. Sometimes it shows up as quiet gratitude, steady determination and a genuine appreciation for the life you’ve built.
